The Schmolz + Bickenbach Group is running a microsite dedicated to our participation at the WIRE show in Dusseldorf, April 2018.

Within this Microsite our customers will find information on the booth location, the different Business Units, product portfolio, brochures to download, press releases, etc.

A blog is also attached to this microsite and will be fed with short articles before and during the WIRE.

Schmolz + Bickenbach Group will be exhibiting at Wire 2018 in Dusseldorf during the 16^th 20^th April

Wire 2018 is the worlds most important trade fair for the wire and cable industry, it plays host to over 1,300 exhibitors welcoming over 38,000 visitors from 76 different countries.

This years event is due to be the biggest ever in its 30 years history and the Schmolz + Bickenbach group are proud to be part of it.

Stainless Steel wire is one of Schmolz + Bickenbachs core product ranges, we are able to offer wire rods and drawn wire starting at 13 microns diameter.

S+B UK will be sending two representatives who will be looking forward to welcoming UK companies to our stand.

SCHMOLZ + BICKENBACH Group is one of the world’s leading providers in specialty steel long products. The UK Group supply Tool Steel, Engineering Steel and Stainless Steel into a variety of industries in round bars, forgings, rings, blocks and many more specialised products

The group also offer from our in-house specialist technical team: Ultrasonic testing, MPI testing, extra testing, Heat treatment, Non-Destructive testing and 3.2 Third Party Witness. The SCHMOLZ + BICKENBACH Group are the third largest producer of Stainless Steel long products in the world, second largest producer of Tool Steel in the world and third largest producer of Engineering Steel in Europe.

Utilising 2,500 tonnes of stock in our Oldbury head office as well as access to stock in Germany and France, we were able to support British manufacturers with high quality material during the recent push to support the UK’s fight against Coronavirus.

An example of how we accommodated the UK Ventilator Challenge was by offering stock priority and quick lead times. This was demonstrated when a customer placed a large order for material at 3PM, and was picked and delivered before 9AM the next day. Due to a flexible and co-operative workforce, we can deliver anywhere in the UK within 2 days, offering same day and next day services.

Swiss Steel make significant investment in the modernization of our Swiss Steel-Finkl production facility in Sorel-Tracy, Quebec, Canad

We have made a significant investment in the modernization of our Swiss Steel-Finkl production facility in Sorel-Tracy, Quebec, Canada.

The modernization includes replacing the current 5,000-ton press with a state-of-the-art 6,700-ton press.

We have also made the transition from a natural gas-powered forging furnace to an energy-efficient electric furnace.

These innovations will enhance productivity, improve product quality, and significantly reduce CO2 emissions.

“We are committed to being a world leader in forged Toolsteel by continuously improving our quality, productivity, and capacity,” said Frank Koch CEO of SSG.

“This project is a critical step in securing our operations in Quebec for the future while also contributing to global decarbonization efforts.”

The 6,700-ton press not only increases processing capabilities but also reduces material waste thanks to its precision.

The shift to an electric furnace is a critical move toward decarbonization, helping both our customers and us meet ambitious climate goals.

We carry over 300-tons of Toolsteel here in the UK, along with stock at our German production site Deutsche Edelstshlwerke (DEW).

With our new name Swiss Steel Group we are continuing to move forward and reposition our group. We are on a path of transformation. Our new claim “Together. For a future that matters” summarizes our efforts to achieve joint success in the near and far future.

Schmolz + Bickenbach has been an iconic name. Encompassing the history and people that began this legacy. We are also a company that focuses on improvement, growth, innovative solutions, development and change.

Steel is our backbone, our DNA. It’s what we do best to contribute in shaping a sustainable future. And so we are teaming up – with each other, with customers and suppliers. Together we are designing ever better steel solutions with highest quality and profound passion. Our expertise makes us an experienced ally. In consulting, development, production and services.

After this turbulent year it was time for a change in many aspects and it is time to use the momentum to change the name.

All Business Units that had SCHMOLZ + BICKENBACH in their name will now be known as Swiss Steel. For our mills, Ascometal, Deutsche Edelstahlwerke, Finkl Steel, Steeltec, Swiss Steel and Ugitech will each be called a “Member of Swiss Steel Group” and own a new logo.
Combining our areas of expertise, we have teamed up and now stand together for a future that matters. We look forward to embarking on this journey with you, our customers, suppliers, colleagues and friends.

We will continue doing what we do best – develop and produce innovative steel solutions as our answer to a sustainable future.
